Dozens of Employers Seek Talent at Leighton School Career Fair

Dozens of employers from around the Michiana area turned out for the Leighton School of Business and Economics Career and Internship Fair on Wednesday, October 12th, to recruit people with business backgrounds. Forty businesses, including 1st Source Bank, Beacon Health System, InterCambio Express, and Crowe Horwath LLP, met with students and alumni seeking jobs at the three-hour career fair which was hosted in conjunction with the IU South Bend Career Services.

B & L Information Systems Marketing Manager Alexandria Trusov, who has attended several career fairs at IU South Bend, offered high praises for the event. “The candidates were dressed professionally. They were prepared, and they asked questions,” she remarked. “I talked to several quality contacts for our open positions.”

“I was very pleased with the employer and student turn-out for the first Leighton School career fair,” said Mike Esposito, director of the Judd Leighton School of Business and Economics Career Planning Office. “Every employer who registered for the event showed up. Overall attendance was 266, which included 232 students, and 34 alumni and others from the general public. I could not have done this alone. IU South Bend Career Services was a huge partner in the success of the first Leighton School career fair.”

Students and alumni seeking jobs and internships engaged with local employers to connect their talents with local job opportunities. “It was great to see so many outstanding local employers represented at the first Leighton School Business and Economics Career Fair,” said Interim Dean P.N. Saksena. “And from my discussions with the employers, who attended the event, they were very pleased with the professional caliber of our students and alumni.”
