Recruiting Business Students
Employers seeking talented individuals for jobs and internships are invited to recruit Leighton School of Business students. There are a number of ways to make students aware of the opportunities, some of which include:
- IUSBCareers is an online job and internship board offered to students, alumni and employers at no charge. The system uses “Handshake” software. Each semester, IUSB hosts an on-campus, in-person a career and internship fair, which is open to the public. Employers registered in IUSBCareers will receive a notice when registration for the fairs begins. The fair is managed by the Career Services Office. For more information, email HireIUSB@iu.edu.
Business students are required to take a “Career Planning and Placement” class. Typically, they enroll in the class in their junior or senior year. A component of that class is a mock interview with an employer (interviews usually occur in November and April). The Leighton School of Business has several active student groups. Some groups host guest speakers. For more information, contact the Career Planning Office at becareer@iu.edu.
From time-to-time faculty may be interested in hosting employers as guest speakers or require students to interview an employer. These opportunities vary by semester and professors and can be in person or virtual. If interested in being available to faculty for class interactions, contact the Career Planning Office at becareer@iu.edu. As opportunities arise, we will contact you.

Internships
The IU South Bend Leighton School of Business expects students in internships to do professional-level work. As such, hosting interns can be a good way for companies and agencies to find additional support for regular employees. Other benefits of sponsoring interns include:
- Providing a source of motivated pre-professionals
- Bringing new perspectives to problems
- A cost-effective way to recruit and evaluate potential employees
- Increasing an employer’s visibility among college students
