Examples of Detailed Job Descriptions

To get a professional-level position, you will need a degree AND experience. But what experience do you need? To find out, read job descriptions related to your major. Do this early in your college career.

The sooner you know what experiences employers want, the more time you will have to get them. Experience comes not only from paid jobs, but also from class projects, internships, club involvement and volunteer positions.

Below are a few examples of professional-level job descriptions (those requiring a bachelor degree). To find more, search the web for: "entry level jobs in (your major)."

  • Assist managers in designing and executing specialty programs such as Telehealth, medication setup/refill programs in order to create exceptional customer experiences
  • Set up new patients' profiles in the data system, analyze specific needs and assign suitable home health aides and medical providers
  • Manage and organize schedules for home health aides to assist patients and visiting nurses
  • Mediate between patients, home health aides and medical providers, and documented necessary situations
  • Maintained detailed patient medical records, including patients' health status and diet and provided updated reports to medical provider in compliance with HIPAA requirements
  • Reviewed the performance of home health aides to improve the utilization service
  • Qualifications: Bachelor degree, detailed knowledge of HIPAA regulations, three years of customer service experience, demonstrated sensitivity in working with children/adolescents and their families, access to reliable transportation, driver’s license. Bilingual skills (especially Spanish) a preferred

  • Perform duties of hospital administration including department oversight and functioning as the hospital administrator-on-call
  • Prepare feasibility studies
  • Publish hospital-wide communications
  • Address patient complaints and issues of risk management
  • Manage hospital marketing campaigns and seasonal promotions
  • Create patient procedure estimates and client payment plans
  • Qualifications:  Bachelor degree in health care administration (or related field), experience with Epic Software System (or similar system), ability to work well under pressure, ability to maintain confidentiality (HIPPA).  Employment contingent upon successful completion of a background screening
